On November 18-19, 2024, the Director of Kosovo’s Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Yll Buleshkaj, participated in the Regional Conference “Best Practices in Preventing Corruption – from Policy to Action,” organized by UNODC and UNDP at Hotel Garden, Pristina. The conference brought together high-level representatives from government institutions, international organizations, civil society, and media to discuss challenges and experiences in combating corruption in the region.

In his speech, Mr. Buleshkaj emphasized the importance of establishing strong and independent institutions capable of addressing the challenges posed by corruption. “Strengthening institutions and fostering a culture of trust are key to preventing corruption and ensuring sustainable transparency. The fight against corruption requires not only sound policies but also concrete and coordinated actions,” he said.

During the first panel of the conference, Mr. Buleshkaj shared Kosovo’s experiences in designing and implementing anti-corruption strategies, highlighting progress in creating an effective legal and institutional framework. He also addressed the challenges Kosovo faces, including the need to enhance inter-institutional cooperation and encourage citizens to report cases of corruption.

The conference served as an important platform for sharing best regional practices and promoting collaboration in the fight against corruption. Participants exchanged their experiences, underscoring the importance of a collective approach focused on strengthening integrity, transparency, and the rule of law.
